WordQ is known for it’s word prediction functionality but it is far more than this providing, pre, peri and post writing support.
ThoughtQ is a pre-writing, dynamic topic research tool that helps students of all ages make connections between words and ideas related to their chosen subject. It validates existing knowledge, introduces new concepts, and generates “thought trigger” words, supporting deeper research and idea generation for reports, essays, and projects.
Peri-writing support comes in the form of word prediction, speech-to-text and text-to-speech providing words and usage examples along the way.
Proofreading functionality is the post-writing support where your students can hear back the work they have completed and identify any corrections they might need to do.

Research consistently demonstrates that word prediction software offers significant benefits for individuals with writing difficulties, including those with learning disabilities, physical challenges, and English language learners.
Studies show that word prediction increases writing productivity, word and sentence fluency, and overall composition rate, with some students experiencing up to 100% improvement in total words produced and 93% in word fluency when using programs like WordQ. Word prediction reduces keystrokes, making writing faster and less physically demanding, which is especially valuable for users with fine motor difficulties. It also improves spelling accuracy, expands vocabulary use, and boosts motivation and confidence in writing tasks.
Both students and teachers report enhanced independence and satisfaction, as the software helps users focus on content rather than mechanics, leading to more effective written communication. These benefits are most pronounced when word prediction is integrated as part of broader, evidence-based writing interventions

There is a licence option for all circumstances. Available on a subscription basis, WordQ is licensed for 1 year although many schools and district boards are requesting options for muti year commitments which we will happily discuss with them. The options for licences are:
Individual licences - where support is required for one student
Volume licences - where support is provided to more than 5 students in a school. With WordQ for Google Chrome, we also provide a Customer Admin Portal for you to manage your own licences
School / District Wide - where licences are made available based on student population and deployed based on domain making it easier for technical teams to deploy to all machines
We are here to help, so speak to us if you are looking for a multi year commitment, a pro-rata license to bring it inline with your budget cycle, academic year or if you are looking to make use of any surplus budget to cover access to WordQ in the coming years.

WordQ can be a transformative tool in the classroom, supporting diverse learners across the writing process.
Its word prediction feature assists students who struggle with spelling or word choice, displaying suggested words as they type, which helps reduce errors and cognitive load. The text-to-speech function allows students to hear their writing read aloud, aiding in proofreading, grammar, pronunciation, and comprehension. This auditory feedback motivates students to edit and improve their work, fostering independence and self-efficacy.
Teachers can customize WordQ by creating word lists and banks tailored to lesson topics or student needs, making it adaptable for all proficiency levels. When used alongside mind-mapping software, WordQ enhances brainstorming, organizing, and drafting, supporting the entire writing process.
School-wide implementation, combined with ongoing teacher training, ensures that both students and staff maximize the program’s benefits, promoting inclusion, improved writing outcomes, and technology proficiency.

WordQ is an assistive technology tool designed to support reading and writing for individuals facing learning barriers, such as students with learning differences or those acquiring a new language. This supports the principles of making the individual an active participant in their learning rather than a mere spectator. It features intelligent word prediction, text-to-speech, speech recognition, and proofreading, helping users find and correct mistakes, expand vocabulary, and improve comprehension without judgment or pressure.
WordQ’s approach exemplifies intelligent assistance (IA): it actively supports users in performing tasks, enhancing their abilities and independence, but always keeps the individual in control.
In contrast, artificial intelligence (AI) focuses on creating systems that can mimic or replicate human intelligence, often operating autonomously to solve complex problems, make decisions, or learn from data.
While intelligent assistance like WordQ augments an individual’s capability within defined boundaries, artificial intelligence aims for broader autonomy and adaptability, sometimes functioning independently of direct human input
WordQ is described as intelligent assistance (IA), encouraging active participation and independence in reading and writing, rather than functioning as AI that completes tasks for the user. This approach fosters confidence, self-reliance, and effective communication
WordQ is a versatile literacy support tool available in English and French across Windows, macOS, iPadOS, and Chrome (including Chromebooks), with each platform offering features tailored to its environment.
At its core, WordQ provides advanced word prediction and text-to-speech capabilities, assisting users in word selection and proofreading. The software tracks keystrokes, suggesting relevant words and phrases, which can be heard and selected via keyboard or mouse. A creative spelling feature helps users find the correct word, even with misspellings.
On Windows and macOS, WordQ uses a floating window that integrates with any writing application, while iPad and Chrome versions offer a self-contained editor.
Additional features include speech recognition on Windows and Chrome, and an accessible PDF viewer/editor on Windows, macOS, and Chrome, allowing for form completion and annotation with full assistive support.
WordQ emphasizes intelligent assistance (IA), encouraging active student participation and independence, and operates securely offline except for activation
