WordQ has made reading, writing, and communication easier and more accessible for millions of people around the world.

Solutions For You at Every Stage of Life

Our solutions are based around WordQ® technology, first released in 2001 and constantly improved in the following years.

WordQ is a simple-to-use writing software tool that helps you create better quality writing with greater independence and confidence. It provides ongoing compensatory support for individuals with learning differences (e.g., dyslexia) or physical disabilities, and in general, anyone who faces barriers to writing for any reason. As well, it can complement reading and writing instruction if you are learning English or French as a second language.

WordQ software is available on four platforms, with slightly different features for each: Windows, macOS, iPadOS and Chrome (including Chromebooks). For individuals at home we offer Standard and Pro versions of WordQ desktop software for both Windows and macOS platforms, as well as iWordQ iPad software for iPad. The Pro versions expand the basic WordQ software with Professional/Higher Education vocabularies. Our WordQ for Google Chrome is aimed at students working at home.

WordQ supports both English and French

All versions offer state-of the-art word prediction combined with text-to-speech to help with word selection, as well as a proofreading mode where you can navigate through their document, having portions read aloud to check for errors and overall flow. WordQ watches your keystrokes and presents a list of ‘predicted’ words and short phrases that are consistent with those keystrokes. You can hear these words spoken aloud and select them by keystroke or mouse/trackpad. A creative spelling facility attempts to work around errors in spelling to still present the desired word.

On Windows and macOS, WordQ’s main interface is a floating window that hovers over and interacts with any application that involves writing such as a word processor or an email program.

The iPad and Chrome versions offer the same assistance but within a self-contained document editor. The Windows, macOS and Chrome versions also include an accessible PDF viewer/editor to read PDF documents aloud as well as to fill out forms and add annotations such as sticky notes, all with WordQ’s word prediction and speech feedback assistance.

We call this technology, intelligent assistance, or IA, rather than AI. In general, the approach is to encourage you to be active participant in reading and writing, not a passive spectator. WordQ does not write for you. Rather, you get assistance to be independent in your work and get your ideas down easily.
