Nisai Group to acquire major shareholding in Toronto-based assistive technology developer Quillsoft

London, UK – August 1, 2022. Nisai Group, a leading provider of online education to school age and adult learners for 25 years is pleased to announce that they have reached an agreement to acquire a major shareholding of Quillsoft Ltd. based in Toronto, Canada. For over 20 years Quillsoft has been an industry-leader in the development of state-of-the art assistive technologies. The joining of these two organisations strengthens the wider strategy of both to support individuals of all ages to develop their skills in written literacy with shared values centred around accessibility, inclusivity, aspiration, and innovation. This also marks two significant points in the strategies of both organisations.

For Nisai Group it represents an expansion as part of its global strategy to both improve the educational opportunities for children and adults worldwide and widen its offer with the inclusion of Quillsoft’s WordQ software to complement Nisai’s live teacher-led lessons and Units of Sound software. It also represents the opportunity to formally launch Nisai to the North American market.

For Quillsoft it provides a route to expand its presence, initially across Asia, Europe, and North Africa, and then in line with the wider Nisai Group strategy. It opens new markets for Quillsoft while remaining true to its origins of supporting learners with learning differences and enabling it to grow beyond an edtech company to a full education company.

The need to address the global issue of low levels of literacy and English has been exacerbated by the Covid pandemic and now more than ever is a joint approach to dealing with an ever- increasing problem. Offering one solution with three complementary offers is key to supporting learners from all backgrounds, ages, and abilities. Teacher-led lessons from Nisai blended with Quillsoft’s WordQ and Units of Sound will support a wider group of learners and extend learning beyond the classroom for a more impactful learning experience.

Dhruv Patel, CEO and Founder of Nisai Group commented, “Up to now the expansion of Nisai globally has been through organic growth. A change in direction in this growth strategy was always only going to happen if something impactful, accessible, and reliable came to our attention and Quillsoft is exactly that. With a talented team behind it and products that make a significant difference, Quillsoft is a welcome addition to the Nisai Group, and I look forward to seeing significant expansion over the coming years.”

Fraser Shein, CEO and Founder of Quillsoft stated, “This is an exciting opportunity for Quillsoft to extend the reach of WordQ through the resources available from Nisai. The shared values of both organisations to support learners of all ages with improving literacy is key to addressing the global issue of low levels of literacy and English.”
